~~~~Buff's Beads~~~~
Jewelry Sets
Kumihimo is an ancient art form that the Samuri used this form of braiding with silk cord to hold their armour plates together. Only a very skilled swordsman with a very sharp sword could cut thru the tightly woven cord. Currently, the women use it on the band/sash to keep all of the kimono together. I use the Mitake-Gumi braid and my "cords" are hand strung beads. It takes aprx. 8 yards of beads to make a necklace, and 3 yards of beads to make a bracelet.
And with this form, and with all types that I do, each bead holds prayers and special thoughts for the person who receives any of my beadwork.
